The Blue House

This is The Blue House. The house I grew up in. The house even my mom grew up in. The house I had all of my school dance pictures in front of. The house all my sport team parties were at. The house where I had a bedroom downstairs and it was the coolest thing to have as a high schooler.

My childhood home burnt down April 2019, when I was a freshman in college. Thankfully, my parents and dog made it out safe but it was a devastating time for my family. A year later, my parents were able to rebuild on the same land and create a home they dreamed of. I’m thankful I still get to drive to the same address every time I come home.

I realized I hadn’t painted something specifically for my parents and Christmas 2021 seemed the perfect time to do so. I wanted to dabble in architecture paintings and found an image from 2001 my dad took of our old house.
