Black Lives Matter

It’s fair to say we were all going through it Summer of 2020. Being in Minneapolis, MN, not only were we dealing with the COVID-19 Pandemic but also the murder of Mr. George Floyd. One of the ways I wanted to show my support for the Black Community was through my art. Starting out painting, I had the idea that it should be everyone helping everyone, no matter your skin color. After learning more, I realized ‘everyone helping everyone’ can only happen when everyone is equal. This was a time to focus and support communities that are hurting, whether it was through education, reading, donating, etc. This piece changed when my eyes were opened and it reflects an understanding I now have: it is my privilege and responsibility to support the black community in any way that I can and it is my duty to encourage this commitment with my family and friends.
